In order for your child to do their very best, it is important that attendance and punctuality is excellent. Lost time cannot be made up and school expects the support of parents and carers in ensuring that children always attend school.
There will, of course, be rare times when children are unwell or have health appointments and therefore won’t be in school. However, school must be told of the reason for these absences, by telephoning 01457 762136 on the first day of absence. We also request that a note is sent in on the first day they return with an explanation of the absence – you must do this even if you have already telephoned us. The school office is open from 8:30 am to receive phone calls. If your child is not in school and we have not had prior notification of the reason for their absence, you will be contacted that morning by Mrs. Walker to provide a reason.
As you know, we work very close with the Education Welfare Service to ensure that our attendance is at least 97% across school. Where children and/or families are identified as causing concern for attendance or punctuality, the support of the Attendance Officer will be sought.
We are striving for excellent attendance as shown below.
Following recent government legislation, schools are no longer able to authorise holidays taken in term time (unless exceptional circumstances). Please see the letter from Tameside below for more information.
