Children’s targets are sent home termly with assessment data.
Children set their own individual targets, in their topic and maths books, at the end of each half term.
Half Termly Topics
This half term our topic is Rainforests.
In literacy, the children are reading extracts from The Explorer by Katherine Rundell and a lot of their topic work is based on this story.
Information on Trips
Year 5, along with the rest of the school (except Nursery) will be visiting Chester Zoo on Tuesday, 28th November. The consent letter can be downloaded here.
Each year the children in Years 5 and 6 are given the opportunity to take part in a residential trip to an outdoor pursuits activity centre. This year’s residential trip is to Robinwood in Todmorden and will take place from Friday, 20th July to Sunday, 22nd July 2018. For further information on Robinwood, click here.
It is expected that children will complete an independent project based on our topic. A copy of the Rainforest Homework Leaflet can be found here.
On a Friday, the children will be given 10 spellings to learn which they can study online at Spellzone.
They will also be given maths homework – either IXL maths codes to be completed online or sessions within TT Rockstars.
Children should also read aloud to an adult at home.
If you have any time to spare and would like to offer your services in Year 5 please contact Mrs Tickle or Mrs Diggle to make the necessary arrangements. Your help will always be welcomed.
